IRONMAN Cascais Portugal
September 27th 2019
With its mild climate and 3000 hours of sunshine a year, Portugal has been the perfect destination for a family vacation, as part of the IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais series. With over 650 years of history, it is just a 20-minute drive from Lisbon International Airport, located between Sintra and Oeiras. Athletes will enjoy the best that Cascais has to offer, starting the race with a course of just one lap of 1900 meters in front of Cascais Fortress, in the most beautiful bay of Portugal.
The cycling route runs along Avenida Marginal, passing through Oeiras, always beside the ocean and with extraordinary views to Lisbon. In return, the athlete faces a stunning natural setting in the forests of Sintra - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entrance to Cascais runs along the Guincho road "where the land ends and the sea begins", completing an extraordinary 90.1 km round. The two 21.1 km rounds of the race course cross the village of Cascais, entering the Marginal and returning to the bay of Cascais, the perfect inspiration to finish IRONMAN 70.3 Cascais Portugal. Running between Cascais, Estoril and S. Pedro, the athletes will be refreshed by the sea breeze and applauded by spectators who frame a dream scenario.
Historic houses, palaces and fortresses of yesteryear make this one of the most beautiful race tracks ever in a triathlon race unveiling a place that will be part of the most amazing experience ever in an athlete's life.
